Go for the creepy, actor-led clinical trial that trades brain-burners for bold, in-your-face storytelling. The Doctor swings from charming to unhinged, and the ride is equal parts laughs and shrieks.

AI Overview

AIPlayers consistently rave about the live actor, who drives immersion and keeps momentum high. Puzzles lean linear and relatively basic, with guidance folded into the performance rather than delivered over a speaker. The fear factor exists but isn’t constant; tone shifts between tense, playful, and unsettling. Several note you could replay and get a different flavor depending on the GM’s spin.
WeaknessesPuzzles can feel simple and linear, with the actor sometimes steering a bit too much. If you spook easily, focusing on tasks may be tough. A few players were unsure whether to trust in-character clues.
StrengthsStandout acting and a strong hospital-trial theme create a highly immersive experience. The flow keeps teams engaged, with some unique touches and memorable character work.
SecurityThe GM is present and attentive, setting boundaries and keeping eyes on the team throughout. Expect sudden scares and close interaction, but nothing beyond standard scare acting.
Level of fearCreepy with a few jumpy moments, but not a relentless haunt. Likely fine for most teens and adults; very nervous players or young kids may struggle.
Actors' gameThe Doctor gets glowing praise for being funny one moment and terrifying the next. Interaction is high, and the performance adapts to the team, sometimes carrying the game’s pace and tone.
Quality of riddlesGenerally straightforward and fair, more about narrative flow than deep logic. A couple of moments can stump you, but the actor nudges you forward in-character. Expect a linear path and less emphasis on heavy deduction.
PlotYou’re test subjects in a cheerful-but-wrong clinical trial that unravels into something darker. Discover what the Institute is really doing as you push deeper into the facility.
Difficulty levelBest for beginners or story-first players; enthusiasts may find it on the easier side. The actor support means teams rarely stall for long.

The Doctor nailed it: funny, oddly sweet, then suddenly unhinged. The game is a bit linear with fairly simple puzzles and a lot of actor guidance, but the theme and immersion more than make up for it. Highly recommend, just don’t expect deep puzzling.

Actor-led rooms usually pile on tension; this one plays it differently. You start as clinical trial subjects under a watchful ‘doctor,’ slip the first area, and realize what’s really up. A few jumps land, but that’s not the core—the actor can help or hinder, and it’s not your typical format. I’d even replay to see a different GM’s twist.

Live-actor games rarely work for me, but this one had me grinning. We played as two, got a couple of honest screams and plenty of laughs, and whenever we stalled the actor found clever, spooky ways to push us forward.

We did The Happy Institute after The Sacrifice, and it was my first full-length room. Our actor, Adam, was fantastic and absolutely terrified a couple of us; turns out live-actor rooms aren’t for me because I get too scared to focus, which I found frustrating. Still, the theme landed and the puzzle flow felt good.

The Doctor was a riot and a menace in the best way, flipping from friendly to feral and dragging us into the story. Not the hardest room, but I didn’t care—I was hooked the whole time.

Easy 10 out of 10. It gave us exactly the reactions we wanted, with an incredible GM who kept the twists coming and our nerves jangling. Loved it.

If you want dense logic puzzles, this won’t scratch the itch. The theming is cool, but the hand-holding and simple tasks left me wishing for more challenge.

Atmosphere is spot on and the performance sells the setting. Puzzles are pretty linear and sometimes the Doctor guides a bit too much, but it’s still a blast.

Unsettling hospital vibes, a couple of good jumps, and a character you love to fear. I’d replay just to see a different take from another GM.

Interesting game with some fresh ideas. The live actor totally elevated it for us and felt essential to the fun, though we weren’t always sure if we should trust their in-character clues.

Very different from the rooms we’ve done—having someone in there with you changes everything, and it got properly creepy at points.
