About the escape room

When digging the footings to build Princes Quay Shopping Centre in Hull a vault was found. The greatest scholars of the day were brought in to uncover the meaning of what had been found. One name started to be mentioned by the scholars…….Dracula! Is this the long lost Castle Dracula? Many associations are made with Dracula and Whitby but this questions these ideas and Hull is the centre for many Dracula/vampire mysteries?

Brief assessment
from Navigator AI
Moody Dracula vibes in a well-built vault beneath Hull, with a couple of jolts and puzzles that mostly land. Great for families and first‑timers, yet gothic enough to please fans of the legend.

Overview of artificial intelligence

AIPlayers consistently praise the set design and atmosphere, with some calling it their favorite Dracula-themed room. Flow and tech reliability divide opinions: when props behave, it sings; when they don’t, GMs step in often. Difficulty reads mid, friendly to newcomers but still testing in places.
WeaknessesSome teams hit clunky sequencing and tech hiccups that stalled momentum and needed GM nudges. One visit felt content-light, likely due to early-days setup.
StrengthsImmersive, coherent theming makes the space feel subterranean and close to the Count. Build quality is strong, and the light jump scares add energy without going overboard.
SecurityNo safety concerns show up in the reviews, and the GM presence is attentive. Scares are theatrical, not physical.
Level of fearExpect a few jump scares and tense lighting, more spooky than nightmare fuel. Kids who like Halloween vibes should cope fine; very young or sensitive players may get jittery.
Actors' gameNo live actors are mentioned; interaction is through the set and puzzles. Game masters are hands-on with hints, especially if something misfires.
Quality of riddlesOn-theme, tactile puzzles with a mostly logical core. A few groups reported unclear sequencing and occasional reset/prop issues that muddled flow. When running cleanly, the puzzle track feels fair and satisfying.
PlotYou probe a hidden vault beneath Princes Quay tied to Dracula lore and Hull’s vampire mysteries. The aim is to uncover the truth and stop what’s stirring without giving too much away.
Difficulty levelMedium overall. Beginners and families should manage with a hint or two, while enthusiasts get a couple of trickier beats; bottlenecks come more from flow than raw puzzle hardness.

Took the family and it landed just right: spooky but not too much. Our 12‑year‑old jumped once, laughed, and kept going. Good variety of locks and mechanisms, and the GM nudged gently when we stalled.

Gorgeous set, eerie soundtrack, and a couple of cheeky jumps that gave me goosebumps. Puzzles were tactile and made sense once we spotted the connections. One of the better vampire themes I’ve played.

An okay room when we visited near launch, but there wasn’t much to do then and several things didn’t trigger, so the GM had to help multiple times. You end up cracking open Dracula’s coffin and driving in the stake, which is cool. If everything worked, this could be great.

As an enthusiast, I loved the underground vibe and the lore nods. A couple of steps could be signposted better, but the highs outweighed the head-scratching. Would recommend to fans of gothic rooms.

Enigma’s builds always have that something extra, and this one keeps the streak going. Solid construction, strong theming, and we had a really good time.
