Locked away in the Board Room, the higher order had just wrapped up the meeting when the lights suddenly dropped, and one of them killed the King of the Illuminati, otherwise known as Plato! As junior members of The Illuminati, you and your team will have to gather any evidence from within the Board Room to find out who the killer was, how he or she did it, and where they have scarpered to! Overview of artificial intelligence

AIPlayers consistently praise the hosts, calling out Sam and Anne for keeping the game smooth and fun. Puzzles are themed, logical, and well signposted, with a linear opening that later branches. Many teams needed a few nudges and finished close to the buzzer. The room leans more on padlocks than high tech, but it doesn’t spoil the flow.
WeaknessesTime pressure is real, and several teams needed multiple hints. Padlock-heavy design may disappoint tech seekers. The game can feel unforgiving if you stall.
StrengthsClever, varied puzzles that click into place and support the narrative. Excellent game flow and clear signposting without hand-holding. Hosts are attentive and keep momentum high.
SecurityStandard briefings and responsive monitoring reported; no safety issues mentioned. One team noted dogs were allowed during their visit.
Level of fearNot a scare-fest; it’s a cerebral whodunnit. Suitable for families and newer players who don’t want horror.
Actors' gameHosts get standout love, especially Sam and Anne, for timely nudges and upbeat energy. Interaction is supportive rather than theatrical, which suits the detective vibe.
Quality of riddlesThemed, logical, and varied, with satisfying aha moments once you connect the clues. Signposting is fair, and solutions make sense in hindsight. Expect more classic locks than gadgets.
PlotYou’re junior Illuminati members racing to solve who killed their leader, how it happened, and where the culprit fled. The one-hour deadline adds bite to the investigation.
Difficulty levelChallenging and brisk, better for focused teams; first-timers may lean on hints. Duos can escape but should expect a workout.

Sam ran our game and he was fantastic. The room is packed and we used every minute, taking a couple of timely nudges. Smart, brainy puzzles and a really considered design. We’re excited to try more of their rooms.

Brilliant mystery with crisp, fair puzzles and a host who knew exactly when to nudge. We burned almost the whole clock and still felt in control. Would happily replay their other rooms.

Great hosting from start to finish and the signposting was spot on. We split up mid-game and that really kept the pace up. Hard, but not mean.

Another strong outing from Escaporium in Halifax. Big thanks to Sam for great hosting and a set of well-themed puzzles. Clues were signposted without spoiling the fun, and each solve made sense. Absolutely worth the trip.

Loved the story and flow, though it’s definitely more locks than gadgets. Still, everything connected cleanly and we left grinning.
