AI Overview

AIPlayers consistently praise the welcoming, enthusiastic staff and the satisfying mix of old‑school locks and modern mechanisms. The room flows through multiple spaces and often calls for teamwork and sensory clues. Atmosphere is effective but sometimes feels more worn than immersive, and a deeper story thread would help. Overall quality lands solidly in the good-to-great range for most groups.
WeaknessesSome set pieces feel a bit grubby or tired, which can break immersion. Storytelling is on the lighter side, so narrative lovers may want more.
StrengthsClever reveals and a balanced puzzle mix deliver plenty of aha moments. The multi-room progression adds momentum, and the hosting is warm, attentive, and helpful.
SecurityBriefings are clear and the staff are attentive, which keeps things comfortable even in dim, gritty areas. Navigation feels safe despite the moody set.
Level of fearCreepy and tense rather than outright scary, and even easily startled players report managing fine. Suitable for teens and cautious adults; very young kids might find the vibe intense.
Actors' gameNo in-room actors are mentioned; interaction is mainly through a supportive game master. Players highlight the host’s enthusiasm, clear briefings, and spot-on hinting.
Quality of riddlesPuzzles are varied, logical, and fair, blending padlocks with neat mechanisms and a few multi-sensory moments. Teamwork is required in places, and the solves feel earned rather than guessy.
PlotYou’re piecing together fragments of an abandoned asylum’s past as you move through the spaces. The theme lands, but the narrative throughline is lighter than some might hope.
Difficulty levelMedium difficulty with a steady learning curve. Newcomers will cope with hints, while experienced players still get a couple of satisfying surprises.

From the moment we walked in, the host’s warmth and clear guidance set us up for a great run. The Asylum feels like a textbook escape room done well, mixing familiar tropes with a few clever surprises across multiple spaces. Puzzles hit that sweet spot between old-school locks and neat mechanisms. Some areas looked more worn than moody, but tidy that up and it’s easily a level up.

Loved the flow from room to room and the reveals were spot on. Our GM nudged us only when we stalled, which kept the tension up without spoiling anything. Walked out buzzing.

Solid puzzles and fair logic, but I wanted a stronger story thread and some fresher set dressing. Still worth doing if you like traditional escape rooms.

Classic asylum vibes with a good mix of locks and tech. A few props looked a bit tired, but the puzzle design carried it easily. Would recommend for mixed-skill teams.

Spooky look, not nightmare fuel. As someone who jumps at everything, I still had a great time and actually solved things. Staff were lovely and welcoming.

Really enjoyed this one. The puzzles feel thought through and fit the theme nicely, and the room is spooky without being too much, even for a scaredy-cat like me. Our GM was lovely and pointed us to other rooms we’d probably enjoy.

Kept seeing Rhondda Escape Rooms around Cardiff and finally went, and I’m glad we did. It’s a family-run place and the team were genuinely lovely. The room itself was fun with solid puzzles and definitely worth the trip.

First time at this venue and it was a very good experience overall. We did miss a bit of story and the atmosphere could have been stronger, though it might have just been an off day. Still, we’ll be back to try the other rooms.
