About the escape room
The year is 1605 - Robert Catesby has summoned you to the duck and drake in London. The date is the 5th day of the 11th month - King James I resides on the throne. Catesby has gathered a following of disgruntled Catholics, all of whom do not like the way the Church of England are treating the Catholic people. His plan is to reduce the Houses of Parliament to rubble whilst King James is inside. Over the past weeks barrels of gunpowder have been secretly placed under the key pillar of the Parliament building. You and your team have been tasked with the detonation. Find the explosives, plant the dynamite and blow the King sky high. Can you re-write the history books?

AI Overview

AIPlayers consistently praise the puzzle design and smooth progression, saying everything clicks without leaps of logic. Host interaction and a light theatrical streak elevate the immersion. Theming fits the era and space well, though a couple of people note it isn’t hyper-polished or strictly historical. Overall tone is fun over fright, with many calling it a must-play.
WeaknessesA few remark the set dressing isn’t the most pristine or lavish. History buffs may notice liberties with accuracy. If you dislike any live interaction, be aware there’s a small, friendly dose of it.
StrengthsClever, well-signposted puzzles with great flow and variety. Engaged, in-character hosts and a fun twist that deepens the story. Strong atmosphere that suits the 1605 setting.
SecurityStaff are attentive and welcoming, keeping eyes on the action and offering clear guidance. No reports of intense physical tasks or jump scares.
Level of fearNot scary; more caper than horror. Suitable for families and teens who enjoy story and puzzles over frights.
Actors' gameReviews rave about the games masters—supportive, witty, and great at in-character nudges. Live interaction is brief and well-judged, adding to the plot without overwhelming shy players.
Quality of riddlesFair, logical, and varied, with some clever hides and a couple of delightful surprises. Flow is a standout, helping teams feel smart rather than stuck. Little to no filler or guesswork reported.
PlotYou’re folded into Catesby’s scheme to sabotage Parliament in 1605 and help make the Gunpowder Plot happen. The narrative unfolds through interactions and set pieces without heavy exposition or spoilers.
Difficulty levelMedium difficulty with clean logic, good for mixed groups and first-timers. Enthusiasts still have fun thanks to pacing, variety, and theatrical beats.

From the first line of patter to the last lock, this flowed beautifully. The GM stayed in character, the puzzles were fair, and one gag had us howling. Zero dead ends, just momentum. Loved it.

Our first time at Lucardo and it was a good one. Friendly team, engaging game, with a twist that pulls you into the story; the brief live acting bit was a nice, gentle touch. The set looks fine, if not ultra-polished, and we’re keen to try the other rooms.

Clever use of the space with strong early theming. A few puzzle reveals were very satisfying, and the light actor moment added charm rather than pressure.

Cool concept and the host was excellent, but I wanted a bit more set polish and tougher late-game challenges. Still a good night out.

Great variety and some neat hiding places. The history is more playful than precise, and a couple of props felt a tad worn, but the experience as a whole totally lands.

Lucardo’s latest is packed with theatrical beats and a few dramatic flourishes, and it puts you right inside the Guy Fawkes scheme. It might not be textbook accurate, but it’s a great time with plenty to recommend it.
