AI Overview

AIGuests consistently praise Silas, the owner–GM, for warm hosting, clear briefings, and adapting difficulty on the fly. The room is low-tech but polished, with clean maintenance, strong theming, and puzzles that flow. Several note unique puzzle ideas they hadn’t seen before. Detention is seen as slightly easier than The Briefcase, though still squarely in the medium–hard zone.
WeaknessesFew explicit complaints in reviews; those wanting high-tech spectacle might find it more tactile than wow-factor. Very experienced teams may find Detention a touch easier than The Briefcase.
StrengthsAttentive, friendly GM who genuinely cares about player experience and feedback. Varied, logical puzzles with a strong, consistent school vibe and smooth flow. Clean, well-kept set that feels thoughtfully designed rather than flashy.
SecurityBriefings are clear, the space is tidy, and the GM is attentive throughout. The room is well maintained, and nothing in the feedback hints at safety issues.
Level of fearNot a scare room—more classroom mischief than horror—so it suits teens and nervous players just fine. Younger kids may need help with reading-heavy tasks.
Actors' gamePlayers highlight Silas as a standout host: warm, observant, and quick to nudge without spoiling. Briefings are thematic and interaction feels personal and supportive.
Quality of riddlesGood variety with some fresh twists, all clued fairly and consistent with the theme. Difficulty scales based on your team’s experience, keeping it engaging without feeling unfair. Mostly low-tech, hands-on logic that rewards communication.
PlotYou’re in school detention, following the trail left by a brain, a beauty, a rebel, a jock, and a basket case to earn your way out. The narrative threads through props and tasks without getting in the way of play.
Difficulty levelAdvertised medium to hard, but adjustable in practice; beginners will be fine with hints, while veterans can push for time to spare. Those who beat The Briefcase may find this a notch easier.

We booked Detention right after finishing The Briefcase and it delivered again, with clever, unique puzzles and great flow. It felt a touch easier than Briefcase but just as enjoyable. Silas clearly cares and always asks for feedback, and these rooms are the best I’ve done in the North East by a distance. Excited for what’s next.

Our experienced team tackled all three games over a weekend—Detention included—and found them well themed with some fresh puzzle ideas. The builds are low tech in a good way, executed cleanly, and we got out with time to spare. Silas, the owner-designer, is a lovely host and a sharp GM. Fully recommended.

My partner and I had a fantastic run at The Detention—smart layout, loads of fun, and it kept us hooked from the first puzzle to the last. Big kudos to our GM, Silas, who was welcoming and elevated the whole experience. We’d happily recommend it and can’t wait to try another room.

Great flow and clever locks, though I expected a bit more tech. Still, the hosting and puzzle design totally won me over.
